Join SusPaani Lab

At SusPaani Lab, we constantly seek individuals with thirst for knowledge and strong passion for research.

Currently, the Lab engages in research on aerobic biological wastewater treatment with focus on: Aquaculture effluents, Biocarrier development, Biofilm reactors, Greywater treatment, Nitrification, Organic micropollutants and Saline effluents.

We are looking forward to expand the research activities (particularly at postdoctoral level) also on membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment (preferably with focus on contaminants of emerging concern).

Postdoctoral Researchers

If you feel that there is a good overlap between your profile and that of our research group, write an email (with your curriculum vitae) to the principal investigator briefly describing the kind of research which you wish to pursue and your motivation for joining the group.

The following are some of the typical funding instruments for postdoctoral researchers:
Raman / IoE Post-Doc Program
DST Women Scientists Programs
SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship
DBT-Research Associateship Programme
Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme

It might be also possible to jointly write project proposals to accommodate you in the research group.

Doctoral Researchers

Selection of PhD students occurs through the admission process at IISc. Admissions take place typically once a year for August semester and occasionally also for January semester. Detailed description of the procedure can be found here. Prospective candidates may write to the the principal investigator.

Internship/Project Opportunities (available)

The Lab hosts bachelor and master student researchers for internships or project (thesis) works. Aspirants are advised to go through the research interests of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in the group, and contact individually by email (mandatorily enclosing CV and academic transcripts).

Alternatively, if you are open/flexible to work on any challenge in the water sector, you can send an email (with your CV and academic transcripts) to

Other Employment Opportunities
